Can I get a refund on a faulty item?

  • Yes, to claim a refund if it is faulty, you have 30 days from the date of purchase or the date it was delivered, whichever is later.
  • All is not lost if it is after 30 days. You must give the retailer an opportunity to repair or replace the faulty item before you can claim a refund.
  • If you don’t want the hassle in writing to the customer services, although it must be done in accordance with consumer law, we at Impel Legal can do it on your behalf, and provide you with a copy as a written record as for evidence. We can then escalate the matter if you’re not happy with the response from the retailer.
  • If this is your choice of action, the cost for the initial letter is £38. Email us on and let us no what you bought, including the make, model and serial number, the cost, date purchased and date delivered, say what the problem is, say what you want to happen – refund, repair or replacement. We need to know where you bought it, who from and any action that you have already taken.
